As you can see from the title of this blog, my instructional units are winding down as I am getting ready to transition to the School Testing Coordinator for PARCC and NWEA. Tomorrow, Thursday, February 16, our 8th grade students will be taking the NAEP test. Parcc testing will begin on March 6, 2017. During Parcc, we are tentatively planning for students to receive Health Education in lieu of Literacy Lab.
As we are winding down our instructional units, keep in mind that no new Literacy Lab assignments will be entered after March 3, 2017 in this quarter. Students in K to 2 are finishing up their typing, literacy and computer programming/coding units. Students in 3rd grade are learning how to use/create Google Slideshows. Students in grades 4 and 5 are finishing up the quarter learning about two new presentation programs, Prezi and Popplet. Students in grades 6 to 8 are working on their Final Group Projects for the year.
As always, if you have questions or concerns, either about Literacy Lab or schoolwide testing, please send me an email (firstname.lastname@example.org.)
I am so excited to post my first blog on our new Dever website! I know that parents and students always have a lot of questions about my class and am looking forward to be able to communicate class assignments more frequently with the greater Dever Community! That being said, I want to remind students and families that the PARCC test begins on March 6 and runs through April 6, 2017. During that time, students will be working on Health Education (tentatively) with another one of our Dever staff members in lieu of my class. Grades for third quarter in Literacy Lab will be based on assignments prior to March 6. I will be administering the PARCC test during that month and will not be providing instruction. All of that being said, we are rounding up our last bits of the research project and some of the topics we have been investigating in grades 4 through 8. In grades 1 to 3 students will be completing their coding lessons on Code.org which we have been working on since October of this year.
Please feel free to contact me at email@example.com with any questions you have about my class, the CTU or our Dever website!
