Hello! I hope you all had a wonderful summer and are as excited as I am to be coming back to school! This year lab we are doing some things a little differently in Lab. Students will continue to work on their touchtyping/keyboarding skills and across all grades as well as participating in STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Math) challenges and projects. Work will be done as individuals for skill building and in teacher-created collaborative groups for our projects. In grades 3 to 8 we will be studying Digital Citizenship and using Google Classroom for assignment postings and work submission. Parents can receive daily/weekly Google Classroom updates by sending/emailing me your email address and the name(s) and homeroom(s) of your children. As always, there will be no "homework" assignments; however, students will be expected to finish classwork at home if they were unable to do so in class. Participation will continue to count for 40% of the overall grade in my class. Frequent tardies and absences will have a negative affect on students learning as each class builds on the skills and work from the previous session. As part of our yearlong STEAM projects, I will be encouraging students to play certain video games and watch some tv shows or movies. These activities will not be required BUT they will enhance students understanding of the material we are studying and I strongly encourage families to engage in these learning experience together. Meet Mrs. Habetler
I've been a teacher at Dever for twelve years. During that time, I've taught middle school language arts, science and social studies and been the literacy lab teacher. I have National Board Certification in English/Language Arts and teaching endorsements to my license that include ESL, Science, and Social Science and am one test away from having LBSI Special Education approval.
