First Grade News
May 15th - May 19th, 2017
School starts every day at 8 AM and ends at 3 PM.
We will continue literacy stations. I am going to continue to start testing for reading. Please be on the lookout for a half sheet of paper with your child’s reading level on it, as well as a full-sized paper with reading strategies/skills you can practice at home with your child. Benchmark testing may take up to a month to complete; generally speaking, I start testing the kids who are above level before I test more emergent readers (this may give you a general idea of when your child will be tested).
I will continue to pull select guided reading groups during this time.
For our literacy unit, we will continue reading the article “Frogs.”
We will continue to practice using evidence from the text to answer questions, as well as retell the frog life cycles.
Please practice the spelling words all week at home. Spelling test will be on Friday.
