We successfully completed our PARCC testing this week! Make-up tests for students who missed one or more tests will be done throughout the week.
Progress reports went home on Friday. Please sign and return the bottom portion of the progress report at your earliest convenience. If you would like to set up a conference to discuss your child's progress, please email me a date that works best for you. Thank you!
Our walking field trip to the Dunning Library to hear the CPD's Officer Friendly Program was a huge success! I would like to thank both the Dunning Library for hosting our K-3 classes and the CPD for presenting very valuable and important safety information to our Dever students.
This week we will return back to our normal routine, students should have both reading and math homework from Monday-Thursday.
We are beginning our new reading unit- Animals and Their Habitats. This unit correlates to our new science unit that we will begin later on this week. Our new science unit examines the Structures of Life, both plants and animals.
We will have our Properties of Water science unit assessment on Tuesday. Your child made their review notes last week. We have played several games to reinforce their understanding of the core components of the unit. Each box of their notes contains a main idea, picture & definition. Every box represents one question on their assessment. The students have had over one week to review these notes.
In social studies we will be completing our economics unit. Students have been participating in the Money Island on-line program sponsored by First American Bank. We thank them for offering this learning opportunity for our students. Our next unit will concentrate on United States government and civics.
In math, all three classes will be concentrating on mastery of multiplication facts and foundational understanding of fractions. Please review multiplication facts with your child each night if they have not already mastered them. Students who know their facts perform much better on the end-of-the-year NWEA assessment. This assessment has been used to determine promotion to the next grade.
As always it is a pleasure having your child in 210 this year. I look forward to seeing you all at our third quarter conferences in five weeks. I will be sending home preference sheets soon to arrange a time that works best for you.
Remember....it is Daylight Savings Time on March 12th. Please set your clocks an hour ahead.
With thanks- Mr. Rosenstiel
