-We have begun our Structures of Life science unit. We will be exploring how seeds generate into a variety of plants. We will also look at the various properties of different fruit seeds. We will also grow four varieties of plants- sunflower, popcorn, soybean & peas.
-We will also continue to read about Animal Habitats. This week we will read "Make Way for Ducklings". We will explore how the author uses personification to make the story more comical. The students will also be asked to identify different causes & effects in the story. These have an impact on the development of how the story develops.
-Our spelling pattern of the week- "ow", "oa" & irregular plurals.
-The children are continuing to explore the literary elements required in persuasive writing. We have examined several persuasive topics and then composed both pros & cons for each opinion piece.
-The children are being introduced to the foundations of Civics and our U.S. Government. So far I have introduced the three branches of government- the Executive, Legislative & Judicial branches. We explore the people within these branches, their roles & responsibilities.
