Welcome to our 210 Dever Blog! There are so many things to share about the newest, latest and greatest information about our 4th grade class!
It was so nice seeing so many familiar faces, as well as many new ones at our Curriculum Night on Tuesday. If you were not able to make it, all the information I presented was sent home with your child in his or her Nightly Homework folder.
Additionally, media content sheets and lunch form information (if needed by the school) were also sent home with your child. Please sign and return those important forms with your child. If you are not interested in completing the lunch forms please write "Not Interested" across the sheet. These are extremely important because our school funding is directly proportional to the number of forms completed.
Please turn in all field trip forms as soon as possible. I would like to thank all of our parents who volunteered to chaperone. Due to space limitations at Naper Settlement we can only take a limited number of additional chaperones. At this time all of the chaperones have been selected and we don't need any additional volunteers. If you were not selected at this time, please be assured more opportunities will be available for future trips. The cost of the trip is $15.00.
Your child was given a Friday Folder. This folder will be sent home every Friday. Please examine all of your child's work from the week and sign the attached sheet. If you have any questions or concerns, feel free to write me a note or send an email at firstname.lastname@example.org.
On Tuesday I will be sending home an informational sign-up sheet for Remind.com. The sheet will provide my classroom code, as well as directions on how to sign up for this program. Remind.com is a form of electronic communication which I can friendly reminders for classroom activities or school programs. Parents have the option to select either text or email communications. In the past I have used it to send reminders to parents about field trips, conferences, important projects, assemblies or music programs.
Quarterly reading logs were given to each child. They are being asked complete the number of minutes read per day and the title of the book, magazine or article that was read. These will be due a week before the end of each quarter.
This year I have set up each child with a Spellingcity account. Your child's words can be found on this site. He or she is required to complete 3-4 additional activities on line. This can be done both in and out of school. If internet access is an issue outside of school, your child should make a point of completing these activities in school during our reading center activities throughout the week. Your child could also be writing down the words as additional practice in preparation for their Friday spelling tests.
More information will be coming in the weeks ahead. I am so excited to have your child in Room 210 this year! I look forward to all the great learning opportunities and adventures that await!
Have a wonderful week- Mr.Rosenstiel
